Well I have to say this week was pretty crazy. A lot has happened, so where do I even start?
Let’s start with the good news… I finally submitted my notice of resignation to my job! After months of pushing it off, I slapped on the big boy undies… and talked to my team. Unfortunately… I still have the big boss to talk to, but talking to my team built my confidence, so I’m not as worried. For the most part, they support my decision and gave me good advice such as…
- Find a job first even if it’s part time
- Move to the mainland
- Don’t be afraid to follow what I want
- No point staying in a job if you aren’t happy
Knowing that they support me really helps, but I think what’s truly pushing me forward is the fact that I’m making my goals public. I told them that I wanted to be an animator and writer, so now I feel this desire to commit to everything I’m saying. The more I say it and the more I tell people, then the more real it feels. I’m actually both scared and excited… but I think excitement may finally be overpowering it.
Now for the bad news… last night my Macbook finally bit the dust. The dreaded question mark folder of death appeared on my screen! I tried every solution I could find and it looks like my hard drive finally gave out, so I’m taking it to the Apple store today to see what else can be done, but I’m not keeping my hopes up. I seem a bit more calm about this now, but oh boy.. last night I was freaking out! Luckily my girlfriend helped to calm me down and now I’m thinking a lot more rationally..
Unfortunately, whatever little savings I have will dwindle a little bit more, but on the bright side! I think it’s time to invest in a laptop that’s
- more portable
- is capable of handling animations and digital drawing
- can run my programs (meaning time to get a PC… sorry Apple)
So this is where I am currently at in my life. A lot has happened in this short week, some good and some bad, but that’s to be expected. After all this is My Imperfect Life and I just have to roll with the punches.
I’m excited for things to come and I hope everyone joins me in this crazy journey of mine.
